Recoil R3 RDA — Old Goat Field Report
The Recoil is back for round three — and let me tell you, the old boy’s been hitting the gym. Grimm Green and Thundercloud Creations cooked up something special here, and after a full week of hammering this thing on both my VGOD Tube Mech and the Vaporesso Target 200, I’m ready to bleat about it.
Build & Aesthetics
I grabbed the black version with the silver Grimm Green logo, and damn… this is my kind of nostalgia. Clean, tough, old-school lines with no weird sci-fi angles. At first, I wasn’t convinced about the top cap with the built-in drip tip, so I swapped to the 810 cap and threw on a short Thundercloud tip.
Two drips later I switched straight back — the original cap just hits better. Somehow that extra bit of length cools the vapour perfectly and turns the flavour from “good” to “why is this so good?”
Deck & Airflow
The angled postless deck is the real star here. Drop your coils in, trim, tighten, done. The airflow is fixed — and honestly, it doesn’t need the usual “spin the ring and pray” routine. It’s tuned just right. The air hits the coils dead-on, smooth as butter, no whistle, no turbulence, no nonsense.
The included coils (Ni80 3-core Claptons at 0.2Ω each) are incredible. In a dual setup they land at 0.10Ω — exactly where this RDA wants to live. Fast ramp, loud flavour, and they keep up no matter what juice you throw at them.
Flavour Performance
I ran fruits, desserts, even a tobacco through it.
Every single profile popped.
Not “acceptable.” Not “pretty decent.”
Ridiculously good.
Fruits stay sharp. Desserts come through thick and warm. Even the tobacco — which normally turns into a burnt cardboard crime scene at high wattages — tasted clean and detailed.
This RDA does not care what you feed it. It just performs.
On a Mech Mod
This thing feels born for a mech.
Simple. Honest. Unforgiving in all the right ways.
Hit the button — instant saturation, instant vapour, instant grin.
If your battery is solid, the R3 rewards you. If not… well, that’s a different kind of review.
